The friction
Incident response depends on speed, but the coordination around an incident can consume the same attention responders need for the problem itself. User notifications, documentation, and assembling the right team were repeatable steps hiding inside a high-pressure process.
The approach
I built a workflow using Slack, Okta Workflows, Zapier, and Notion. For defined scenarios, it automated user notifications, created the working documentation, and helped assemble the incident team.
The result
The process reduced manual coordination and created a more consistent starting point for responders. The goal was not to automate judgment; it was to protect attention for the decisions that needed people.
What I learned
The most useful operational automation removes predictable setup while keeping responsibility visible.
